One of the most popular coastal and native bush half day hikes on Stewart Island
If you are keen for a decent hike rather than a walk in the park, then Beaks & Feathers Port William guided half day hike is for you. This walk is day one of the Rakiura Track and is roughly 10km long (with many steps and a bit of rock hopping hear and there). Don your walking shoes and active wear and board the water taxi for a 30 minute ride up the coast to the Port William wharf. Spend the next 3 – 4 hours walking to Lee Bay where we will have a van waiting for you to drive you back to Halfmoon Bay. We stop to take photos, rest and eat along the way.
Meet our guide at Halfmoon Bay Wharf 10 minutes prior to departure time where we board a water taxi for the 30 minute boat tour to Port William jetty. We then hike the 10kms to Lee Bay via Maori Beach. At the end of the hike, we meet the shuttle at Lee Bay for a ride back to Halfmoon Bay.

A good level of fitness is essentail. This 10 km track is a hike rather than a walk. Guests must be able to walk unassisted for at least 4 hours and be able to manage uneven ground and many steps.
